A new survey from Capital One Canada looked at what Canadians spend on a first date and found the average dished out was $130.
The bulk of that figure went towards food and drink ($51), followed by activities ($32), the perfect outfit ($26), transportation ($12) and hair/makeup/grooming ($10).
The report found men are significantly more likely to pay for the entire bill.
That said, women are more willing to split the bill with their date, but only 2% are willing to pay the whole cheque.
Meanwhile, those 35 and older spend significantly more on food and drinks on a first date – $54 versus the $45 daters under the age of 35 typically drop.

Recent polling from Ipsos shows that cost-of-living challenges are forcing Canadians to increasingly stay in – a sad trend called “inflation isolation.”
So for those who can’t justify the cost of dating, even a first date, you’re not alone.
Nearly 60% of Canadians reported that relationship status negatively affects their mental health – and nowadays, people are making their mental health a priority.
Perhaps that’s a new mantra: If you can’t love someone else, love yourself.
