Second-degree murder charges laid in 2022 Edmonton shootingBack to video
On Dec. 7, 2022, at approximately 12 p.m. police responded to a trouble unknown call in a suite in the area of 119 Avenue and 105 Street. Upon arrival in the suite, officers located a 39-year-old man in medical distress. Emergency medical services paramedics arrived at the scene and declared the man dead, police said in a Thursday release.

An autopsy was performed by the Edmonton medical examiner’s office, and it was declared that Kyle Syryda, 39 died of a gunshot wound and his manner of death was deemed a homicide.
On April 7, Germaine Houle, 37, was arrested by police and charged with second-degree murder. On Wednesday, investigators arrested and charged Martin Dubitski, 40, with second-degree murder.
Police said Dubitski was already in custody after being charged on Jan. 9, 2023 with first-degree murder in the homicides of Deidre Aldridge and Daniel Grandbois in 2021.
